What is Cloudflare?
Cloudflare is a wonderful service that helps build a more secure internet for everyone. At Applimade we use Cloudflare to help us manage our DNS all in one place on our own terms. Typically when you buy a hosting plan it will offer you a free domain name. I often choose to not get the free domain because I will not have full control over the domain. If I leave my host or if I have outgrown the hosting, I have to give up my site and my domain with it!
Why do I need Cloudflare?
Not with Cloudflare — because with Cloudflare your domain is separate from the hosting account. So if your hosting subscription expires you could still control ownership over the domain. This is a critical distinction for any business owner who values their online presence.
How do I sign up?
To sign up for Cloudflare, visit dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up and follow the instructions on that page. The process takes less than 10 minutes and includes adding your domain and updating your nameservers at your registrar.
